President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina and his wife, Grace Adesina, are marking a significant milestone in their union, 41 years of marriage.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the former Nigerian minister of agriculture penned a heartfelt message to his wife, expressing deep gratitude and admiration for her unwavering support over the decades.

“I congratulate my darling wife, Grace Yemisi, as we celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary today. Marrying you is the best decision of my life. I would not be who I am today without you. Thank you for your love, wise counsels, sacrifices and incredible support. I love you!” Dr. Adesina wrote.

Adesina and Grace, a lawyer and humanitarian, have been one of Nigeria’s most admired public couples, frequently sharing moments of mutual respect and partnership.

Over the years, Grace has often been seen alongside her husband at official events and has championed various causes, especially those relating to women and children.

Their marriage, which began in 1983, has endured through decades of public service and international assignments, with Adesina rising through the ranks to become the eighth president of the African Development Bank in 2015, a role he was re-elected to in 2020.

The couple has one son together.
