Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie were among the top award winners as Nigeria’s Super Falcons beat Morocco 3–2 on Saturday night to win their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Rabat.

Ajibade, Nigeria’s captain, was named Player of the Tournament for her consistent performances. She led with courage and flair, earning three Woman of the Match awards and helping drive the team to victory.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie won the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award. Calm under pressure, she conceded just two goals in open play throughout the competition — both in the final.

Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu was also honoured. He was named Coach of the Tournament for guiding Nigeria through a tough campaign and lifting the team to another title.

The final was full of drama. Morocco scored twice in the first half and looked in control. But Nigeria fought back in the second half.

Esther Okoronkwo pulled one back from the penalty spot. She then assisted Folashade Ijamulusi to level the match. In the 88th minute, she set up Joe Echegini for the winner.

Despite heavy pressure from the hosts, the Super Falcons held on for a famous victory.

Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak won the Golden Boot with five goals. South Africa received the Fair Play Award.

With this win, Nigeria have now won all 10 WAFCON finals they have played — a record unmatched on the continent.
