The International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), founded by Mike Dada, in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), has announced that voting for the 2025 edition has officially opened.
Public voting began on Wednesday, at www.afrima.org and will close on Friday, November 28, two days before the main awards ceremony in Lagos.
AFRIMA received a record-breaking 10,717 entries this year, the highest in its history. After a 10-day screening process by a 13-member jury, 378 nominations across 40 categories were unveiled, covering all five African regions and the diaspora.
Winners will be determined by a combination of public votes and AFRIMA Academy votes, except for the Legend Award, which is decided solely by the International Committee.
Fans are entitled to 40 votes daily, with each vote carrying 100 value points. Voters can support artistes in both regional and continental categories, and the portal also provides a referral system where shared links earn users extra votes.
AFRIMA assured fans that the process is audited by an international firm for fairness.
Several nominees have since taken to social media to canvass support.
This year’s edition will feature the AFRIMA Music Village, the Africa Music Business Summit, a nominees party and will climax with the main awards ceremony on November 30 in Lagos.
The show will be broadcast live to more than 84 countries.
This year’s AFRIMA runs with the theme “Unstoppable Africa.”
