Singer Adekunle Gold has officially released his sixth studio album, Fuji, today, Friday.

To mark the launch, his wife, Simi, shared a heartwarming video on Instagram capturing a joyous moment between the couple.

In the clip, Adekunle Gold dances as Simi joins him in popping confetti, with a track from the new album playing in the background. Their daughter, Adejare, affectionately known as Deja, also joins in the celebration.

Simi captioned the post, “#FUJIALBUM Out Everywhere NOW!!!!! @adekunlegold you do this one 🦈,” expressing her pride and excitement.

On Thursday, during Simi’s Lagos concert, a touching moment occurred when Adekunle Gold and their daughter joined her on stage. The trio performed together, creating a memorable experience for fans.

Fuji marks a significant evolution in Adekunle Gold’s musical journey. The album blends traditional Yoruba fuji music with elements of Afrobeats, pop, and R&B, creating a contemporary sound that pays homage to his roots.

Adekunle Gold had earlier described Fuji as a return to his roots, both literally and spiritually. Reflecting on his heritage, he shared, “I went back to my palace. My name is Adekunle Kosoko, and if you know history very well, Kosoko was a king in the 1800s. He was the first person to fight the British government when they were trying to colonize. He came back as a king. I was never interested in this history before. When I dug deep in 2023, I realized I’d given my life to only music and nothing more. I wanted to understand where I come from and why I do the things I do. Every time I go to the palace, it feels like coming back to myself. That’s what gave birth to Fuji—finding uncharted journeys inside.”

The title Fuji also stands for “Finding Uncharted Journeys Inside,” reflecting his artistic growth and exploration.

Fuji comprises 15 tracks, including previously released singles like ‘Obimo,’ ‘Coco Money’ and ‘Bobo,’ which features Lojay and Shoday. These tracks have been well-received, generating anticipation for the full album.
