Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has said his daughter’s confidence gave him extra strength during his recent show in London.

The 38-year-old shared that hearing his five year old daughter, Adejare, backstage helped him deliver what he described as one of his best performances. The moment came during his concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Adejare opened the show by greeting the crowd and introducing her father. She said to the audience:

“Ladies and gentlemen, you look beautiful today, all of you, every one of you. Thank you for coming to my daddy’s show. I introduce to you, my daddy, the big fish, Adekunle Gold.”

Adekunle Gold later shared his feelings on social media, writing that hearing her voice made all the hard work feel worth it. He wrote:

“Hearing my little girl’s voice from backstage, confident, proud, bragging about her daddy and calling me onto that stage, I knew I had no choice but to give everything I had. I couldn’t let her down. I couldn’t let you down.

“All the nights leading to this show without sleep, dreaming, working, believing, hoping, worrying. But on this night, more than anything else, I felt LOVED. Truly loved. And it made every sacrifice worth it. You are worth it all. Thank you.

“I can’t wait to take this experience on the road, starting with my amazing BFF in Lagos. You don’t have to wait long because we go in 4, 3, 2, 1…”

Clips from the concert circulated widely online, with many fans praising the father and daughter moment and Adejare’s confidence on stage.

Adekunle Gold is married to singer Simi. The couple got married in 2019 and welcomed their daughter in 2020. Both artistes have spoken publicly about how becoming parents has influenced their lives and work.

The London concert is part of Adekunle Gold’s ongoing performances across different cities, with upcoming shows expected in Nigeria, including Lagos.
