Veteran actor and filmmaker Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, has expressed gratitude as his film Her Excellency grosses N106.8 million at the Nigerian box office.

The 72-year-old shared the update on Instagram on Tuesday alongside a poster that read: “THANK YOU! 🇳🇬 N106.8M. HER EXCELLENCY STILL SHOWING IN CINEMAS NATIONWIDE.”

“We are standing strong on gratitude to God and you all for the unending supports,” he captioned.

Her Excellency, produced by Shayk Studios and Ubee Media in collaboration with FilmOne Studios and FilmOne Entertainment, continues to enjoy strong cinema runs across the country.

The political drama, which stars Sola Sobowale, Toyin Abraham, Lateef Adedimeji, Mercy Aigbe and Yemi Solade, was released to mark Oga Bello’s 60th anniversary in the entertainment industry.

According to the filmmaker, the movie is a modern remake of his 1991 classic Agbara Obinrin (Power of Women), created to highlight the strength of women and promote mutual respect and support in marriage.

The story follows a First Lady, played by Sola Sobowale, who becomes obsessed with power and increasingly suspicious of those around her.

Her performance has been described by viewers as powerful and emotionally charged, while Yemi Solade also impressed in his role as the governor caught between political ambition and personal loyalty.

The film has received praise for its strong visuals, set design and costumes, which helped create a believable political environment. The use of subtle details throughout the story adds meaning and depth to the plot.

Although some viewers pointed out predictable scenes and fast-paced transitions, the movie’s strong cast and message have made it a fan favourite in cinemas.
