ADC leaders are jesters – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as jesters following the party’s allegation that the ruling party was behind a reported shooting involving ADC members in Edo State.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the ADC was responsible for its challenges and accused it of making claims without waiting for investigation by law enforcement agencies.

The APC said the ADC’s February 25 statement, which blamed it for the shooting, was made before any probe had been conducted.

It stated that the opposition party acted as accuser and judge in the matter.

The ruling party also rejected the ADC’s reference to alleged acts of terrorism by the APC, saying the claim was unjustified.

It said violence in the political space was unacceptable and called on the police and other security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

The APC said investigators should examine the ADC, its leaders and members in connection with the incident.

It referred to reported clashes among factions within the party over control and access to meetings.

The party denied any involvement in the shooting and said it was focused on its performance in recent elections in the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers and Kano states.

The APC thanked voters in the FCT, Kano and Rivers for their support and restated its backing for President Bola Tinubu.
