Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, announces complete remission after leukaemia fight

Carl Ikeme has given the football world a fantastic lift with the news that he is in remission after a gruelling twelve months of chemotherapy in his treatment for acute leukaemia.

The Nigerian international took to Instagram to post the news that will bring a smile to the face of Wolves fans and the wider footballing world.

Ikeme’s announcement comes barely 24 hours after Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Iceland at the World Cup.

The experienced shot-stopper was selected as the 24th player for his country in Russia.

He has not played a game this campaign due to his ongoing treatment.

Still, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, named ted him as an extra player – in keeping with a long-standing tradition.
