Actor Odira Nwobu has survived a fatal road accident that occurred on Thursday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to reports, the actor was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision near the Soka area of the expressway. He was said to be travelling in a commercial vehicle when the crash happened, claiming several lives.
A video from the scene, which has since gone viral, shows Odira covered in blood and receiving help from sympathisers. He was later taken to a nearby hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
In the now-trending clip, voices could be heard lamenting the number of casualties, suggesting that Odira might have been the only survivor in his vehicle.
Fans and colleagues have taken to social media to express shock and gratitude for the actor’s survival.
The cause of the accident has not been confirmed, but unverified reports suggest it was linked to reckless driving and speeding.
This incident comes days after a similar crash occurred in Ibadan, involving multiple taxis and a truck, leaving over 10 people dead.
Odira is popular for his comic roles in Nollywood films and skits, where he often plays a dreamer or confused character. He is also known online by the moniker “Joseph the Dreamer.”
