Odira Nwobu’s death comes months after he survived a road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in June.
Reports at the time indicated that he was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision near the Soka area of the expressway while travelling in a commercial vehicle.
Several people were reported dead in the crash.
A viral video from the scene showed Nwobu covered in blood while receiving help from passersby.
He was later taken to a hospital for treatment.
In the video, voices could be heard lamenting the number of casualties and suggesting that Nwobu may have been the only survivor in the vehicle.
The cause of the June accident was not confirmed, though reports circulated linking it to reckless driving and speeding.
Nwobu was known for roles in Nollywood films and skits and was recognised online by the moniker “Joseph the Dreamer.”
Colleagues and fans have continued to share posts reacting to news of his death.
