Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe suffers internal bleeding after Zubby Michael’s kick on set

Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has been hospitalised after sustaining an injury during a movie shoot involving his senior colleague Zubby Michael.

The incident sparked reactions on social media on Saturday after a video surfaced showing the moment Zubby kicked Nnadiekwe forcefully in the chest, causing him to fall.

Speaking out on the incident on Instagram, Nnadiekwe said the kick was not part of the script and was not directed by the filmmaker.

The actor said he shared the experience not to attack his senior colleague but to stress the importance of safety on movie sets.

“Just wanted to share an incident that happened on set few days ago. This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritize each other’s safety on set,” he wrote.

“During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director. It’s caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!”

The actor expressed concern over the lack of insurance and first aid on most Nollywood sets, warning that such incidents, even if accidental, can have severe consequences.

“What if something more serious had happened? Or this went south?” he asked. “Please let us all look out for each other and ensure our sets are always safe spaces where everyone feels secure and protected. Because our health and safety are paramount.”

In a follow-up statement, his management confirmed his hospitalisation and revealed that he is being treated for internal bleeding.

“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael,” the statement said.

“We are committed to providing the best possible care and will ensure timely updates are shared with the public and the AGN board. We appreciate your concern and well wishes for Godwin at this time.”

As of press time, Zubby Michael is yet to respond to the incident.
