Osinbajo meets Adamawa, Bauchi governors over inconclusive polls

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (2)

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday met with Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State and his Bauchi counterpart, Mohammed Abubakar, at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Both governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are struggling to hold their seats after elections in both states were declared inconclusive.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Adamawa, Ahmed Fintiri had polled 367,471 votes against Bindow who got 334,995 votes but could not be declared winner as margin was below votes rejected.

In Bauchi, Mohammed scored 465,453 votes while his closest challenger, Bala Mohammed of PDP got 469,512 votes.

With the margin less than the total number of votes cancelled and registered voters in the areas where votes were cancelled, Abubakar could not be declared winner.

It is expected that the meeting between Osinbajo and the governors would be connected to the supplementary governorship elections in the states.
