The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released Babalele Abdullahi, son in-law to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.

News of Mr Babalele’s arrest broke last Saturday after operatives of EFCC raided his office and home in Abuja.

Babalele is also the finance director of some companies owned by Atiku.

He was, however, released on Monday night while Kabiru Turaki, the deputy director-general of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, was arrested.

Mr Turaki, a senior lawyer, is being detained at the Idiagbon House, Wuse office of the commission.

EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, has confirmed the arrest but did not give reasons for the action.

Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, said that Turaki is the lawyer coordinating the suit to challenge the outcome of the presidential election.
