Since the CAF Confederation Cup changed to its current format, no side from Nigeria has ever clinched Africa’s secondary club competition.

That may soon change owing to the exceptional showing of Enyimba on Wednesday.

The People’s Elephant produced a stunning result on the road against Benin Republic’s Energie FC, winning 2-0.

Barely nine minutes into the encounter, the two-time Champions League winners were already two goals up, thanks to an own goal and cool finish from Austine Oladapo.

It wasn’t the same tale for Akwa United, however, who fell 1-0 to Al Ittihad in Sudan.

Meanwhile, MFM FC produced a late drama to defeat Algerian giants, MC Alger 2-1in CAF’s premier club competition.

Chijioke Akuneto converted from the spots after 36 minutes to put the Prayer Warriors in front.

The visitors pegged back five minutes before the hour mark through Amach Aziovez.

Just five minutes left to play, Monsuru Bashiru stepped up to win the game for the hosts.
