Nigeria being traded away at APC convention — Ojudu

Senator Babafemi Ojudu

Special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on political matters Babafemi Ojudu has alleged that some unnamed persons have traded Nigeria away since the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) began.

The ruling party kicked off voting for its presidential candidate at the convention on Tuesday evening.

The leading contenders for the ticket are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu and former minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

In a post to Instagram early Wednesday, Mr Ojudu alleged vote-buying at the convention, stating that Osinbajo would remain his hero irrespective of the outcome of the primary.

“PYO you remain my hero for life. Congratulations to everyone who has been part of this movement,” the former Senator said.

“God bless you all and may we not trade our nation away as some did since yesterday.”

Ojudu had earlier vowed not to support Tinubu’s ambition, stating that the APC leader never contributed to his success.

On Tuesday, several presidential aspirants stepped down for Tinubu including Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and former Ogun State governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Others who stepped down for Tinubu are the party’s only female presidential aspirant Uju Ohanenye, former minister of Niger Delta affairs Godswill Akpabio and Jigawa State Governor Mohammed Abubakar.
