Singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has penned an emotional open letter to fans and colleagues as he marks 25 years in the music industry.

The 50-year-old shared the note titled “Open Letter of Gratitude” on Instagram on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, reflecting on his journey and expressing appreciation to those who supported him along the way.

2Baba credited his growth and longevity to the people who believed in him, including his early mentors and colleagues from the defunct group Plantashun Boiz.

He thanked Nelson Brown for “seeing light in the dream of three young men when no one else believed,” and Baba Keke and DI for giving him his first professional deal which he described as “a defining moment that changed not just my life, but the entire entertainment landscape.”

He also acknowledged Eddie Lawani, DJ Jimmy Jatt and his longtime manager Efe Omorogbe, calling the latter his “brother, backbone, and soldier.”

Addressing his former group members BlackFace and Faze, 2Baba wrote: “Our story cannot and will never be complete without you. Plantashun Boiz was not just a group, it was a brotherhood that changed the sound and soul of Nigerian music.”

“As I prepare to celebrate 25 years in this industry on November 14, 2025, at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, I want to say this from the depth of my heart: ‘Without you, there’d be no me,’” he said.

He added: “This journey has been more than music; it has been a story of faith, love, resilience, and unity. I thank God for the grace to still stand, still sing, and still love. This celebration is for every single person who has ever been a part of this story. I am because you believed.”

2Baba, who turned 50 on September 18, is one of Nigeria’s most decorated musicians with several awards.
