Nigerian midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has been named Young Player of the Season by Leicester City at the club’s award ceremony on Monday.

The 20-year-old who joined the Foxes in January from Belgian club Genk has been a dynamic force in the centre of the park under Craig Shakespeare, featuring 15 times in the Premier League for the Foxes and scoring twice.

He picked up the prize ahead of England youth internationals, Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell.

And the Nigeria international was delighted to be rewarded for his exploits.

“I feel really happy and honoured to win this,” Ndidi told LCFC TV.

“I see Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell as great players because I never really expected the award because of the kind of players they are. If they have more chances to play, they could have gotten this.”

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel won the Players’ Player of the Season award while Danny Drinkwater scooped the Goal of the Season award for his strike against Liverpool.
