Mercy Aigbe’s husband remanded in Kirikiri Prison

Mercy Aigbe and husband Lanre Gentry

Lanre Gentry, the husband of actress, Mercy Aigbe, was on Tuesday sent to Kirikiri Prison in Lagos after his arraignment before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court over wife battery.

Chief Magistrate, Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, gave Gentry a bail condition of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum in the suit instituted against him by the Lagos State Department of Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT).

The sureties were required to submit their tax verification documents, with one of them having a house within the jurisdiction of the court.

Mrs Aje-Afunwa was said to have closed for the day by the time the defendant could meet the bail conditions.

He was subsequently remanded in prison.

The actress had earlier obtained an order restraining her embattled husband from contacting her of coming close to her.

News of the couple’s collapsed marriage was confirmed two weeks ago when the actress posted pictures on social media accusing Gentry of physical assault while he in return tagged her promiscuous.
