BREAKING: Atiku’s former aide, Adinoyi Ojo Onukaba, is dead

Journalist, playwright and university teacher, Adinoyi Ojo Onukaba, has died four days to his 57th birthday.

A former aide to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Onukaba died on Sunday along the Ilesha – Akure road while returning from the 80th birthday celebration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was said to have been knocked down by an oncoming vehicle while running into a nearby bush to escape an armed robbery attack.

A relative, Yusuf Itopa, who confirmed the incident, said that three of them, including Onukaba’s driver, were travelling when they ran into a blockade mounted by armed robbers.

He said Onukaba’s corpse was later deposited at a mortuary in Akure from where it will be brought for burial today in his hometown, Ihima, Okehi Local Government area of Kogi State.

Onukaba was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-Kogi governorship aspirant.

He worked as journalist with The Guardian and Daily Times where he rose to become managing director.

The deceased, who was Obasanjo’s biographer, lost his wife, Rachael, in 2009.

The veteran aviation reporter is survived by three children – two girls and a boy.
