Siasia leads race for Rwandan job

Samson Siasia

Ex-Super Eagles forward, Samson Siasia, is one of the favourites for the vacant Rwanda coaching post.

Siasia, 49, who has had two separate stints as Nigeria coach, is without a job after leading the country to football Bronze at last summer’s Rio Olympics.

The former Nantes star and seven other top managers are battling for who succeeds Northern Irishman, Jonny McKinstry, who was sacked in August last year.

This was after the Rwandan Football Federation cut its choices down from 52 applicants.

Siasia will face competition from six European coaches including German Winfried Schafer and Belgian Paul Put.

Others who made the interview stage are Portuguese Jose Rui Lopes Aguas, Swiss Raoul Savoy, Englishman Peter James Butler and another German Antoine Hey.

Siasia is also eyeing the South African national team job.
