Clarence Peters criticises Headies on award selection

Music video director, Clarence Peters, on Monday openly criticised the Headies for ignoring his colleagues and not listing them in the music video director of the year category.

Nominees for best music video are Unlimited LA for ‘Emergency’ by D’banj, Meji Alabi for ‘Mary’ by Seyi Shay, Banky W for his self directed ‘Made for You’, Sesan for ‘Bad’ by Tiwa Savage featuring Wzkid and Clarence Peters for ‘Soldier’ by Falz featuring Simi.

The son of Sir Shina Peters and Clarion Chukwura, however, took to his Instagram page on Monday to express disappointment at the exclusion his preferred directors.

The cinematographer, who has shot several music videos for the biggest artistes in Nigeria, has won the Headies twice.

He was named best music video director for ‘Finest’ by Knight House (featuring Sauce Kid and Teeto) in 2010 and for ‘Alingo’ by P-Square in 2013.

He owns and runs Capital Hill music and CAPital Dream pictures.
