Guilt or pity? Yemi Alade solicits votes for Tiwa Savage

Three days after walking away with the Best Female award at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA), Yemi Alade has taken it upon herself to solicit votes for Mavin Records act, Tiwa Savage, for the upcoming Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the ‘Johnny’ singer appealed to her fans and followers to vote for Tiwa in the Best African Act category, saying, “PLEASE LETS ALL vote for @tiwasavage.”

Tiwa’s fans are, however, not too pleased about this development. Instead of applauding Yemi, they have called her out saying she either feels guilty for winning the MAMA because she didn’t deserve it or she is mocking the ‘My Darling’ musician.

They insist they do not need 27-year-old Yemi to solicit votes on behalf of the mother-of-one.

It will be recalled that Tiwa Savage was unable to win in any of the six categories she was nominated for at the Afrika Music Magazine Award (AFRIMMA) which took place on Saturday, October 15 in Dallas, Texas, USA.

The categories she lost in were Artiste of the Year, Best Female West Africa, AFRIMMA Video of the Year, Best African Collaboration, Song of the Year, and Best Artiste in African Contemporary.

She also lost the Best Female award to Yemi Alade on Saturday, October 22 at MAMA in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The 21st edition of the MOBO awards takes place on Friday, November 4 at the iconic SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
