Late ex-Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, will be honoured with a memorial service in South Africa.
The former Nigeria skipper died on June 7 in Benin City, Edo State, after a brief illness with his burial scheduled for July 29.
His achievement with the Eagles at 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa earned him lots of admirers from the Rainbow nation.
And a memorial service will be held in his honour on Saturday July 23 at the Christ Ambassadors Church, Kempton Park, Johannesburg as friends and fans pay their last respect to the Big Boss.
The event is championed by former Nigeria goalkeeper, Idah Peterside, now pundit with South Africa-based television station, SuperSport, under the auspices of “Friends of Keshi”.
“We are determined to honour Keshi to provide a platform for fans,” Peterside told SuperSport
“Nigerians and other Legends who cannot make the trip to the state funeral in Nigeria have an opportunity to honour the “Big Boss”.”
He added: “Keshi won the Afcon 2013 here in South Africa and has a lot of friends and fans here.”
Also expected at the memorial service are African football legends such as Zambia’s Kalusha Bwalya and South Africa’s Neil Tovey.
“We are in touch with Neil Tovey, Kalusha Bwalya, and a host of legends who will grace and speak at the service,” Peterside confirmed.
Apart from winning the 2013 AFCON as coach, Keshi achieved same feat as player in 1994.
He made 64 caps for Nigeria and also managed Mali and Togo.
